We had another action packed Thursday night at The MAC at Haworth today with our newly reshuffled class format, introducing a second mid-week grappling class in between the Kids MMA and Adult MMA sessions.
The kids session was the first chance the Thursday group has had to grade this time around, with the majority of the group working on their basic striking combinations and mount and back-mount controls. A big congratulations to Holly, Alex and Finlay who passed this time around!
A new class was in play this week, with a second grappling class replacing the Women’s Self Defence. We felt it was important to open up self defence to all who reside in the area and we were glad to see a couple of our ladies had made the transition over. The focus of the night was
The adults MMA class was in full swing as the last session of the night and began with a brutal warm-up routine. We then moved onto six rounds of padwork before the technical portion of the class focused on escaping Americana’s and kimura’s from both the mount and side mount position. The night ended with a little rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Jay, Paul, Heidi, Georgina, Lucy, Ed, Paul, Charlie, Olly, Graham and Chris.

It was a windy Wednesday morning today at The MAC at Haworth, with our members going through their paces during a two hour session split evenly between striking and grappling.
The first hour focused on stand-up, with the group utilising the Bulgarian bag for our usual warm-up routine before transitioning into six-three minute rounds on the focus pads. The hour ended with fifteen minutes of sparring, switching opponents after each minute.
The second hour was on the ground, with the group looking at footlocks. I know it’s not IBJJF but hey-ho. First we looked at a more advanced way of controlling our opponent before moving on to leg locks which leave our opponent in a more desperate situation every time we transition.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Kath, Mark, Roxanne, Ewa, Adam, Ebun and Andrea.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

We had a super busy day, perhaps our busiest yet, at The MAC at Haworth today, with our regular trio of classes the main focus for our members, Kids MMA, Mixed Stand-up and Adults MMA.
First up was our kids class, with the oldest set of children pushing through their latest round of MMA gradings. First up we looked at the more advanced striking combinations before transitioning to the grappling which looked at mount/back mount controls, takedowns, guard passing and even three submissions. A big well done to everyone who took part and especially those that passed!
The first of two adult sessions was our mixed stand-up class, with the group getting quickly into the swing of things with a few technical sparring drills. Six rounds of padwork followed before we got down to an extensive period of stand-up sparring.
The final session of the night was our MMA session for adults. After a speedy warm-up the next twenty minutes focused on padwork, giving our members the chance to punch, kick, knee and elbow the focus mits. The grappling technical focused around passing the half-guard, looking at the difference between using the tripod and sitting to gain the advantage. The night ended with a little rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre over the course of the day including Jessica, Natasha, Roxanne, Jay, Mark, Michelle, Georgina, Paul, Ed, Michael, Ebun and Graham.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

It was a windy and rainy Monday at The MAC at Haworth today, with our usual mix of morning and evening sessions keeping our members flocking through the doors.
The morning began with our striking session, with the group warming up with a few rounds on the Bulgarian bag. The group then filled the rest of the time with a little technical sparring, discussing options as they appear to gain a greater understanding.
The evening kicked off with our Kids MMA class, with most of the group involved in their first grading. We focused on their striking initially, such as the jab, cross and push kicks, before looking at their mount and back-mount controls. A big well done to Richard, Joseph and Harry for passing!
Last up it was our grappling class and pulling guard was the focus on the feet, a technique that’s not always ideal but sometimes necessary. On the ground we looked at the relationship between the mount and back-mount, transitioning between the two positions seamlessly. The hour finished with a little rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Mark, Tony, Andrea, Ryan, Chris and Jay.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

It was a busy Sunday morning at The MAC at Haworth today as we rattled off our usual three classes, with the Kids MMA class focusing on the first round of gradings.
The morning began with our hour pads session, giving our members a chance to blow off a little steam and punch, kick, knee and elbow the focus pads as a result. The final fifteen minutes was reserved for a little stand-up sparring.
Next up was our grappling class, with the group today looking at three variations of arm-locks from side control including one that uses the shoulder to immobilise our opponents hips. The session ended with a little playful rolling.
Last up was the little ones and with a few away on holiday or busy at parties, it was a good chance to get half the group graded, some for the very first time. Not only did they have to demonstrate a basic knowledge of striking, but their mount and back mount controls were put to the test.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre over the course of the day including Adam, Roxanne, Ryan, Mark, Jay, Paul, Ed and Georgina.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

We had a hot and sweaty session at The MAC at Haworth tonight, with our usual mix of Kids MMA, Women’s Self Defence and Adults MMA taking the floor.
The night started with the kids and with only one week to go before the grading’s begin it was the students final chance to brush up on what they need to know on the striking and grappling front.
The ladies class started off with a brutal warm-up, combining the Bulgarian bag with squats and the plank. The focus of the evening was throws, looking at countering punches, two handed front chokes and the rear choke.
Finally it was the older MMA class and after our “squats and scrambles” warm-up we moved on to six rounds on the pads to sharpen the striking skills. After that the technical portion focused in around the kimura arm-lock from the guard before ending with a little sparring.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including David, Adam, Rodzers, Andrea, Michelle, Leoni, Georgina, Roxanne, Matt, Olly, Chris and Alain.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

Another fun-filled evening was had by all who attended The MAC at Haworth tonight with our usual mix of Kids MMA, Mixed Stand-up and Adults MMA classes.
We kicked off the night with our older kids class, brushing up on their striking and grappling techniques ahead of next weeks grading. The main focus of the grappling side of things was mount controls and attacks, leading to arm-locks and a rear-naked choke.
The stand-up class began with our usual shadow boxing warm-up followed by a few technical striking drills including the “fake jab” and “pat-down jab”. We then transitioned onto six rounds of padwork before ending with a little light sparring.
The adults MMA class began with our brutal scramble warm-up before it was back to the padwork. The focus of the grappling was expanding our knowledge of mount attacks, especially entries to the neck-hug sequence. The night ended with a little light rolling, with a couple of members with MMA gloves on so they could strike.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Jessica, Mark, Paul, Michael, Georgina, Scott, Chris, Graham, Matt, Jay and Chris.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

We had another busy Monday at The MAC at Haworth today, with our usual mix of morning and evening sessions keeping our members busy.
We started with our morning stand-up session, with the group warming up on the Bulgarian bags before switching to six rounds of hard, intense padwork. The hour then got even harder, as one of our fighters was put through his paces for fifteen minutes with a brutal shark tank drill.
The Kids MMA class kicked off tonight and after the initial warm-up they were put through their paces on the strikes they need to master for next weeks grading. After that it was onto the grappling, with everyone involved impressing the coach with their mount and back mount controls.
Last up was our BJJ class, soon to be twice a week from next week. Tonight we looked at closing the distance to clinch our opponent from standing and basic mount controls on the ground including the use of our hooks.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Adam, Ewa, Jessica, Jay, Paul, Ryan and Heidi.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

We had another energetic Sunday morning at The MAC at Haworth today, with a series of new moves introduced to our members during the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class.
The morning began with a little striking, with the group working their way through a Bulgarian bag warm-up before transitioning to padwork in order to sharpen up their punches, kicks, knees and elbows. The last fifteen minutes was taken up by stand-up sparring.
Next up was the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu hour, with our members getting a look at a series of sweeps from half-guard, picking the correct option depending on the behavior of our opponent. The hour wrapped up with a number of rounds rolling with each other.
The final hour was our massively popular Kids MMA class, with the group today looking at how to pass the guard should our opponent try to push us away and create distance. The session opened with striking drills, both straight line and on the pads.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Ben, Adam, Mark, Paul, Jay, Paul, Ed and Chris.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

Another fun-filled evening was had by all who attended The MAC at Haworth tonight, with our regular program of Kids MMA, Women’s Self Defence and Adults MMA taking the floor.
The set kicked off with the little ones, with the group working their way through the basic striking combinations before turning their attention to the pads in the form of an obstacle course. The grappling for tonight focused on guard passing before playing the always fun sock game.
The ladies session started with thirty minutes of fitness before looking at a couple of hostage knife situations which always require a cool head and lightening fast reflexes.
The Adults MMA class began with a quick warm-up before transitioning to six rounds on the pads. The grappling technical centered around a couple of advanced set-up’s to the elbow escapes and instead of recovering guard we went straight to the back.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including David, Adam, Chris, Andrea, Leoni, Zelda, Ryan, Alain, Olly and Ben.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.
