Tonight we completed our pre-Christmas program at The MAC at Haworth with a triple whammy of classes which included the Women’s Self Defence/Fitness class and the Adults MMA session.
The night started with the Kids MMA class, with our group continuing to work on their basic strikes before one last chance to ride Rudolf before Santa comes down their chimneys.
We then moved onto the ladies, as they were put through their paces with a tougher then usual circuit before moving on to head-lock escapes from both standing and a grounded position.
Finally it was the turn of the Adults MMA class and after a few rounds on the pads we looked at how to effectively apply the rear-naked choke on both sides before adding in a couple of little finishing tricks.
A big well done to everyone who turned up including Donna, Katherine, Charlotte, Leoni, Cat, Zelda, Chris, Matt, Matthew, Chris and Ricky.
Merry Christmas to all and we’ll see you in the New Year (if not in the break 😉 )
We had another fun-filled evening at The MAC at Haworth tonight, with our members braving the windy weather to make it to our triple whammy of evening lessons.
The night started off with the Kids MMA class, with the group getting competitive with “rock, paper, scissors”, before changing it up with some stand-up sparring for the very first time (well it is Christmas). The night ended with a little rolling (Jiu-Jitsu sparring).
Next up was our Mixed Stand-up class, with our members blasting through a few rounds of padwork and a nice (or not so nice) circuit, before finishing the session with some stand-up sparring.
The last class of the evening was the Adults MMA class, with the hour (and a half) beginning with a warm-up and a few rounds on the pads. We then focused on how to escape a couple of head-locks, including how to force your opponent into this kind of unskilled behavior. The session ended with more rolling…
A big thanks to everyone who attended including Teigan, Mark, Matthew, Chris, Dwight, Matt, Owen and Kira.
Merry Christmas and see you next time on the mats…
Another fun-filled Thursday evening was had by all that attended The MAC at Haworth tonight, with Women’s Self Defence and Adults MMA the front-runners.
The night begun with the Kids MMA class, with our little ones working on their focus, striking and mount controls, before getting in the Christmas spirit by dealing with “Crazy Rudolf”.
We continued the next hour with our Women’s Self Defence/Fitness hour, with the ladies going through their paces during the first 30 minutes including exercises including the Bulgarian bag. The session was completed with a couple of knife defence techniques, one underarm and one overarm.
The night was completed with the Adults MMA class, with the group working their way through six rounds of padwork before looking at three ways to escape the triangle choke. The session ended with seven rounds of rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended The MAC including Georgina, Connie, Leoni, Zelda, Matt, Graham, Matthew, Chris, Ben, Ricky and Chris.
See you next time on the mats…
Another big night at The MAC at Haworth was had by all who attended the facility this Tuesday evening, with a triple whammy of classes leading the way including “Mixed Stand-up” and “Adults MMA”.
The night was kicked off by the “Kids MMA” class, with the group working on their focus and striking before starting to learn how to hold pads properly for the first time. The session ended with our usual rolling game (Jiu-Jitsu sparring) followed by a couple of games of zombie.
The night continued with our stand-up class, this week focusing on covering and countering big shots that could be coming our way. The group struggled to grasp the concept at the beginning but by the end they were flying. Padwork ensued.
The night ended with the Adults MMA class, building on the padwork from earlier in the evening, before moving on to how to apply the Americana arm-lock, as well as other’s that lead off it, from side mount. The session ended with a few rounds of rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended including Kira, Matthew, Ricky, David, Georgina, Teigan and Matt.
See you next time on the mats…
We had a packed house tonight at The MAC at Haworth, with our students looking at various things including bear hug defences, as well as escaping the side mount in a very energy efficient way.
First up we had our “Kids MMA class”, with the group looking at basic strikes, grappling games and self defence techniques, as well as continuing to work on their focus.
Next was the turn of the “Women’s Self Defence/Fitness class”, which continues to go from strength to strength, which saw the ladies put through their paces for thirty minutes before looking at fending off various bear hug attacks.
Next up was the “Adults MMA class” which saw our members blast through six rounds on the pads before working on escapes from side mount. The class ended with a few rounds of rolling (Jiu-Jitsu sparring) which I’m sure everyone enjoyed.
A big well done to everyone who attended including Georgina, Charlotte, Connie, Donna, Matt, Matthew, Chris and Owen.
See you next time on the mats…
We had another busy Tuesday night at The MAC at Haworth earlier today, with a few new faces sprinkled across our three classes which included stand-up and MMA.
The first class of the evening was the “Kids MMA class” with the youngsters working on the latest strikes they need to master as well as how to take down a much bigger opponent if needed.
We moved on in the next hour to our “Mixed Stand-up class” with the group focusing this week on kicks to the legs, combining inside, outside and oblique kicks to confuse our opponents.
Finally we had the “Adults MMA class” with the group this time looking at a type of control from top position which allows us to either force our opponent to expose the back or we take a straight arm-lock to finish the fight.
A big well done to everyone who attended including Cat, Michelle, Georgina, Mark, Teigan, Ricky, Matt, Jonny, Graham, Chris, Owen, and Ben.
The doors were wide open at The MAC at Haworth tonight as we welcomed in a plethora of members onto the mats for our triple lesson line-up.
First up we had the little ones in for the Kids MMA class, with the group working on a couple of new punches before looking to polish even further the five games they were graded on last week. This week was also their first chance to spar on the mat, using our point scoring rolling game.
Next up was the turn of our stand-up class, this week focusing on lead hooks and rear uppercuts, before getting in a few quick rounds on the pads. We finished the session off with a few rounds of boxing sparring as we continue to hone our skills.
Last but by no means least was the turn of the Adult MMA class, with the group looking specifically at how to defend punches from the guard position. This was after a number of rounds of padwork had been carried out and some much needed backward rolls. The session ended with five rounds of rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended the classes with special mentions going to Michelle, Cat, Matthew, Kira, Matt, Graham, Chris and Dwight. Also a big well done to Chris who popped over for a private earlier in the day.
See you on the mat…
We were open this Sunday morning for our regular classes at “The MAC at Haworth”, with our members piling in for the pad session, BJJ hour and Kids MMA (which for this week included a grading).
First up was the pad session with a couple of regular faces popping over from Bradford to hit, kick, elbow and knee the pads for an hour, sharpening their skills in the process.
Next up was the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, with the group looking at an advanced way of setting up the scissor sweep, how to use it to switch to the other side if it gets stuffed and how to take advantage of your opponent countering the double ankle sweep.
Lastly we had our little ones in for the Kids MMA class, with four of our students eligible for their first gradings. We had a super well behaved class, with the children working their way through fitness and focus drills, as well as showing off their understanding of striking and grappling. We’re pleased to report that all four children passed with flying colours.
A big well done to everyone who attended including Ewa, Adam, Cat, Chris and Matthew. Congratulations once again to those children that passed their gradings, the future is bright.
It was another night of intense classes at the Fusion Martial Arts Centre at Haworth this evening with our Kids MMA, Women’s Self Defence/Fitness and Adults MMA groups all taking center stage.
First up was the turn of the kids who this week not only practiced their mount controls, but also visited what to do when on someones back. Not long before the we had them playing their usual bunch of games and honing their striking skills.
Soon after was the turn of the Women’s Self Defence/Fitness group who continued their good work with the Bulgarian bag before moving on to various weapons defence techniques.
Lastly we had our Adults MMA group in who blasted their way through six rounds on the pads before looking at a no-gi variation of the scissor sweep. This was all capped off with the usual rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended this evening including Cat, Graham, Matt and Matthew. Also a special mention to David, Chris, Andrea and Michelle who were in for private sessions earlier in the day.
Good job everyone!
Another successful evening was laid on by the Fusion Martial Arts Centre at Haworth this evening, with a triple threat of classes navigated by our members.
First up was our first ever mid-week grading for the “Kids MMA class”, with our younger ones being tested on their, fitness, focus, straight punches and push-kicks and grappling techniques. A very well done to those who were tested.
Next up was our “Mixed stand-up class” with our groups continuing to use the oblique kicks to stop our opponent in their tracks, as well as working on their flexibility with a triple kick drill. Plenty of padwork to finish.
Last but by no means least was our massively popular “Adults MMA class”, with the group working their way through six rounds of padwork, before looking at a couple of variations of the double ankle sweep (more on this on Sunday in the BJJ class).
A big well done to everyone who attended including Mark, Cat, Matthew, David, Matt, Dwight, Kira and Chris.
