An impact infused evening at The MAC as the Women’s Self Defence class gets stuck into some overhead throws

We had our first Thursday evening of 2017 at The MAC at Haworth this evening, with a triple header of classes leading the way including the Women’s Self Defence/Fitness session as well as Adults MMA.

First up was the little ones, with our younger Kids MMA group looking at basic punches and kicks as well as how to control that pesky bank robber should they stumble across him.

Next up was the ladies, with our merry bunch getting put through their paces during a thirty minute circuit involving the Bulgarian bags we have at the centre, before moving onto a couple of ways to deal with an attacker intent on choking you from behind.

Lastly was the Adults MMA class, with the group working their way through six rounds on the pads before looking at elbow escapes from the mount. The session ended with eight rounds of rolling (jiu-jitsu sparring).

Well done to everyone who attended tonight including Zelda, Cat, Donna, Charlotte, Katherine, Joe, Ricky, Chris, Matt and Owen.

See you next time on the mats…

The MAC at Haworth get into the Christmas spirit with head-lock escapes and rear-naked chokes

Tonight we completed our pre-Christmas program at The MAC at Haworth with a triple whammy of classes which included the Women’s Self Defence/Fitness class and the Adults MMA session.

The night started with the Kids MMA class, with our group continuing to work on their basic strikes before one last chance to ride Rudolf before Santa comes down their chimneys.

We then moved onto the ladies, as they were put through their paces with a tougher then usual circuit before moving on to head-lock escapes from both standing and a grounded position.

Finally it was the turn of the Adults MMA class and after a few rounds on the pads we looked at how to effectively apply the rear-naked choke on both sides before adding in a couple of little finishing tricks.

A big well done to everyone who turned up including Donna, Katherine, Charlotte, Leoni, Cat, Zelda, Chris, Matt, Matthew, Chris and Ricky.

Merry Christmas to all and we’ll see you in the New Year (if not in the break 😉 )

Bear hug defence and side mount escapes visited tonight at The MAC at Haworth

We had a packed house tonight at The MAC at Haworth, with our students looking at various things including bear hug defences, as well as escaping the side mount in a very energy efficient way.

First up we had our “Kids MMA class”, with the group looking at basic strikes, grappling games and self defence techniques, as well as continuing to work on their focus.

Next was the turn of the “Women’s Self Defence/Fitness class”, which continues to go from strength to strength, which saw the ladies put through their paces for thirty minutes before looking at fending off various bear hug attacks.

Next up was the “Adults MMA class” which saw our members blast through six rounds on the pads before working on escapes from side mount. The class ended with a few rounds of rolling (Jiu-Jitsu sparring) which I’m sure everyone enjoyed.

A big well done to everyone who attended including Georgina, Charlotte, Connie, Donna, Matt, Matthew, Chris and Owen.

Front collar grab counters and side mount pressure visited tonight at The MAC at Haworth

We had another fun-filled Thursday evening at The MAC at Haworth tonight, with our regular three classes going down a storm with the members that were in attendance.

First up was the “Kids MMA class” which saw a handful of little ones continue to practice their rolling and striking, as well as trying to tame a rather unruly horse.

Next was the “Women’s Self Defence/Fitness class” which saw six ladies put through their paces during the first 30 minutes before turning their attention to how to deal with an attacker that grabs your clothes from the front.

Last but by no means least was the turn of the “Adults MMA class” which focused the grappling portion of the class on how to wear your opponent down in side control. The session also included padwork and rolling (grappling sparring).

A big well done to everyone who attended including Leoni, Zelda, Cat, Donna, Katherine, Connie, Matt, Matthew, Graham, Dwight, Owen and Richard. Also a special mention to David, Adam, Chris, Mark and Michelle who were in for privates earlier in the day (a busy day).

The night was kicked off by our little ones, taking the youngest group of children through what they need to learn to progress both on a striking and grappling level.

Finally we moved on to our Adults MMA class, with the group looking at technical striking drills and double leg takedowns before getting down to some rolling (grappling sparring).

A big well done to everyone who turned up including Zelda, Leoni, Matt, Matthew and Owen. Also a special mention to David, Adam, Cat, Andrea, Mark, Emma and Michelle who were all in for privates throughout the day. A very busy day…

Knife defence and triangle counters all the rage tonight at The MAC at Haworth

We had a busy night on our hands this evening at The MAC at Haworth, with a triple whammy of classes going down including women’s self defence and adults MMA.

Kicking off the evening though was the turn of the little ones, as we opened our doors for the Kids MMA class. This evening the focus was exactly that, trying to bring the best our of their focus after a tough week last week. We’re happy to report progress was made.

Next was the turn of the Women’s Self Defence/Fitness class, with our ladies being put through their paces with our strength and conditioning program before moving on to knife defence.

Last but by no means least was the Adults MMA class, with our group working their way through six rounds on the pads before looking at triangle choke counters. The sparring was both Jiu-Jitsu rolling and boxing.

A big well done to those who attended including Leoni, Zelda, Cat, Matthew, Graham and Owen. Also a special mention to Richard, David, Chris, Andrea and Michelle who were in for private sessions throughout the day.

Finally, I’d like to thank Craft Contractors Ltd. for the hours put in at The MAC this morning/afternoon as they continued to make improvements to the extension.

Mount controls, hair-grab counters and arm-locks from the guard all covered tonight in Haworth

It was business as usual at the Fusion Martial Arts Centre at Haworth this evening as our triple threat of lessons went down a storm with those that attended.

First up was the turn of the kids, giving our little ones their final opportunities to impress before their first gradings next week. Long-range punches and kicks were covered, as well as working further on their mount controls.

Next up was the Women’s Self Defence class, with the ladies working their way through half-an-hours fitness involving the Bulgarian bag, before moving on to dealing with people who look to grab hair during an attack.

Finally it was the MMA lessons for the adults, with padwork covered in the first half-an-hour before moving onto arm-locks from the guard and how they link into Tuesday’s triangle choke lesson. We capped it all off with a little rolling which everyone seemed to enjoy.

Well done to all of those that attended including Leoni, Cat, Owen, Adam and Chris. A shout of to David, Chris and Andrea who attended the MAC earlier in the day as well.

Chokes, chokes and more chokes dominate the landscape in Haworth this October evening

It was a triple whammy of classes all featuring chokes tonight at the Fusion Martial Arts Center at Haworth, as we saw kids, ladies (only) and grown-up’s come through our doors on this October evening.

First up was the turn of the kids who were forced to take their focusing to the next level or face the consequences dished out by our chief instructor. The new technique this week was a rear choke, applied at the end of a very fun roll.

Next up was the ladies, well one anyway, as social commitments and injuries devastated our Women’s Self Defence class. That didn’t stop our one and only student making the most of things though, revisiting last weeks personal attack techniques before getting a crash course in the guillotine choke (which she used to great effect later in the evening).

Last up was the Adults MMA class, with our group going through their paces on the pads before looking at a number of effective ways to apply the rear-naked choke both on the overhook and underhook sides.

Well done to all of those that attended including Zelda, Matt, Matthew and Owen. A shout of to David and Andrea who attended the MAC earlier in the day as well.

Please remember to reserve October 30th in your calenders for our two hour “Halloween Spooktacular” fundraiser (10am-12pm) in aid of a local children’s centre. A link to our Just Giving page can be found here…
