We had a busy Sunday morning at The MAC at Haworth this morning with our regular program of an hours pad session, grappling class and Kids MMA.
First up was the pads session, with our members having the chance to practice punching, kicking, kneeing and elbowing the focus pads before engaging in a little light sparring.
Next up was our grappling hour with the group looking at outside arm attacks, focusing very much on the straight arm-lock finishes to this new dimension. The session ended with fifteen minutes of grappling sparring.
The last session of the day was the kids and after a quick warm-up we got stuck into our obstacle course striking drills which included forwards and backwards rolls. The main focus of the session was five grappling games before finishing with the guard passing game and points based rolling.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Adam, Ewa, Mark, Ed, Chris and Georgina.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.
See you next time on the mat…

It was another sweltering Sunday morning at The MAC at Haworth today, with our regular program of pads, grappling and kids MMA on the menu.
First up was the pads session, with the group working their way through an intense Bulgarian bag warm-up before a number of rounds on the pads. After that we put things into practice and rattled off five rounds of stand-up sparring.
The grappling hour was focused around the arm-in guillotine, first off looking at a different way to grip before allowing our opponent just enough rope that they hang themselves. We also looked at a nice set-up from half-guard before finishing with the devastating hand-gun choke.
Last up was the little ones, with this weeks focus being guard passing. Before that we put them through their paces on striking obstacle course. A couple of passing games ensued before finishing off with our points based sparring game.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Ben, Finn, Ed, Paul, Chris and Georgina.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

It was a busy, hot and sweaty morning at The MAC at Haworth today with our usual mix of pads, grappling and Kids MMA on the menu.
First up was our hour pad session, a chance for members to sharpen their striking skills as they punch, kick, knee and elbow the focus pads. The final fifteen minutes was reserved for sparring as they put everything into practice.
Next was our weekend grappling class and we took the chance to look at a scenario from the bottom of half guard. Once gaining lockdown and the underhooks we explored creating a favorable angle before executing the electric chair sweep/submission.
The last class of the morning was our massively popular Kids MMA class and after a brief warm-up and a little padwork we put them through their paces with our new guard passing game. The technical portion of the class looked at a mount escape, rolling our opponent off of us before finishing with a few fun games.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Adam, Ewa, Roxanne, Paul, Ebun, Michelle, Ryan and Paul.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

It was a hectic Sunday morning at The MAC at Haworth today with the usual trio of classes keeping our students flocking through the door, which included a jam-packed Kids MMA session.
We started with an hour on the pads, giving those adults who are a little stressed with the weeks event a chance to punch, kick, knee and elbow the focus pads before finishing off with a little stand-up sparring.
The grappling session was a little low on numbers today but that didn’t stop those who did turn up working on a few things from the mount position. The first half of the session was all about escaping, before looking at a few attacks to finish.
The last hour was the kids session and having graded half of the group next week it was time to look at those who slipped through the net. We started the session with our regular warm-up before moving on to basic and advanced striking combinations. The grappling side of things was intense for many of those being tested, looking at wrist releases, takedowns, guard passes, mount controls, back mount controls and three submissions. We’re pleased to reveal that everyone being tested today passed. A big congratulations to Harley, Jensen, Ziggy, Charlie, Ellie-May, Kylie and Bobby.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre including Mark, Michelle, Michael and Finn.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

It was a busy Sunday morning at The MAC at Haworth today as we rattled off our usual three classes, with the Kids MMA class focusing on the first round of gradings.
The morning began with our hour pads session, giving our members a chance to blow off a little steam and punch, kick, knee and elbow the focus pads as a result. The final fifteen minutes was reserved for a little stand-up sparring.
Next up was our grappling class, with the group today looking at three variations of arm-locks from side control including one that uses the shoulder to immobilise our opponents hips. The session ended with a little playful rolling.
Last up was the little ones and with a few away on holiday or busy at parties, it was a good chance to get half the group graded, some for the very first time. Not only did they have to demonstrate a basic knowledge of striking, but their mount and back mount controls were put to the test.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre over the course of the day including Adam, Roxanne, Ryan, Mark, Jay, Paul, Ed and Georgina.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

Next up was the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu hour, with our members getting a look at a series of sweeps from half-guard, picking the correct option depending on the behavior of our opponent. The hour wrapped up with a number of rounds rolling with each other.
The final hour was our massively popular Kids MMA class, with the group today looking at how to pass the guard should our opponent try to push us away and create distance. The session opened with striking drills, both straight line and on the pads.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Ben, Adam, Mark, Paul, Jay, Paul, Ed and Chris.

Next up was our BJJ session which was focused solely on catching the guillotine choke from the guard and side-mount positions. The session ended with fifteen minutes of rolling (grappling sparring).
Last up was the little ones and after a brief warm-up we focused on our basic striking combinations. The grappling part of the session looked at something new, the scissor sweep from the guard position. This session also ended with a little rolling.

We had another busy Sunday morning at The MAC at Haworth today with our regular programming of pads, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kids MMA on offer.
We kicked it off with the pads session, giving our members a chance to blast through a number of rounds on the focus/Thai pads before putting it into practice with some light sparring.
The BJJ session was littered with attacks from side control, first looking at a couple of ways to apply the kimura before switching our attention to the straight arm-lock from the same figure-four grip.
Finally it was the turn of the little ones and after making their way through, under and over our obstacle course, we focused on escaping the mount position before passing the guard. A little zombies had them running around at the end.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Adam, Roxanne, Ewa, Mark, Heidi, Jay, Paul, Finn and Georgina.
A big shout out to our sponsors, The Fleece Inn as well.

First up was our pads session, giving our group a chance to work off a few pounds, as well as hone their striking skills, with a number of padwork drills for the first half. The session then turned into a sparring session, with people looking to land punches, kicks, knees and elbows.
We then moved onto our weekend Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu session, with the group today looking at knee-bars from the open guard, as well as how to attack the same submission from half-guard. The hour culminated in a little rolling.
Last up was our Kids MMA session and the group continued their work on mount controls and submissions by visiting the Americana arm-lock for the second time. We also included a pads drill and numerous rolling games.

A foggy and damp Sunday morning met our members at The MAC at Haworth this morning , with a trio of classes managing to take their minds off of things.
We kicked it off with an hour pad session, giving our members the chance to hone their stand-up skills whilst punching, kicking, kneeing and occasionally elbowing the focus mits before turning their attention on each other.
Next up was our BJJ hour, with the group looking at a number of nifty ways of escaping side control, one of which even ended in a submission.
Last up was the turn of the kids and a very grappling heavy based session. First we focused on freeing ourselves from an attacker before taking them to the group, before moving on to attacking arm-locks from the mount, this time including an Americana.
A big well done to everyone who attended the centre today including Alain, Roxanne and Leoni.
